My son got this truck as a birthday gift. He plays with it often, he likes to put his smaller cars in it and dump them out. The handle makes it easy for him to push it and dump it(sometimes see next part...) but problem is the back that lifts up to dump something out, clicks/locks down and it's too hard for him to open it back up so i keep having to do it for him...it can get annoying.

My 14 month old son was playing with this truck. He was trying to push it and crawl and the handle dump truck part popped up which resulted in a huge cut to his lower lip and it BROKE PART OF HIS FRONT RIGHT TOOTH OFF! Do not purchase this toy and please do not give this to anyone as a gift! This should be RECALLED!
Fun truck for infants, more frustrating as they grow

A neighbor bought this Little Tikes truck for my son for Christmas when he was just 6 months old and he's been playing with it literally every day for the last 11 months. The truck has no sharp corners -- everything is rounded and smooth and surprisingly has not scratched any furniture.
I'm a bit surprised by the reviewers with children that have injured themselves with this toy. My son, now one and a half years old, has injured himself with other toys, but not this truck. We've found it a very safe, stable toy and my son loves scooting it around the house, pushing it back and forth with me, or hoisting it onto our coffee table.
Lately, however, the truck has been a source of increasing frustration for him. The holding bed on the truck is large, but access from the top (due to the handle) and from the rear is extremely limited. He will often put something in the back only to have extreme difficulty pulling it back out because the openings are so small. This is the only reason why I did not give it 5 stars. |

I went online to look for other Little Tikes toys with the handle and saw that this truck - which my 17-month old son loves - only had two stars and I wondered why. I disagree with most of the other reviews. The handle on top makes it easy for him to push around and carry - he can run it up slopes, on the ground, anywhere. He has never fallen or injured himself on it. In fact his frustration occurs because he can only pull the dump truck end up about 50% of the time. Usually he just hands it to me, and points that he wants it open. I do agree that the handle does make it difficult to put large items in the back and that the opening at the end of the dump truck makes it difficult for items to fall out. This is the only reason I'm not giving this toy five stars. But my son loves this truck and has pretty much been playing with it constantly since we got it about a month ago. I'm planning to get him the train with the handle because he likes this toy so much.

Besides being unstable, this truck is extremely frustrating! My son is constantly trying to put items in the truck that are too big, and then if he does manage to get a "load" in, he can't get it back out again!! He has cried in frustration and thrown the toy across the room. I will be buying him a Fisher Price one for his birthday that actually dumps!
